Frequently asked

What is a web to app converter?

A tool that turns a website into an installable mobile app without coding. It wraps the site in a native Android shell with your name, icon and features, then builds and signs an APK and an AAB. Full explanation.

Is a converted website a real app?

Yes. It has its own package name, signing key, permissions and Play listing, and Android treats it like any other installed app. The screens inside come from your website.

How long does it take to convert a website to an app?

The build itself takes a few minutes. Preparing an icon, testing and writing a store listing usually takes an afternoon. Google Play review adds hours to a few days.

How much does it cost to convert a website into an app?

Building with a free converter costs nothing. Google Play charges a one-time developer registration fee. Paid converters range from one-off fees to monthly plans — work out your numbers with the ROI calculator.

Do I need coding skills?

No. You paste a URL and pick settings. Coding only helps if you want to change your website so it behaves better inside the app.

Do I need a computer or Android Studio?

Not with Website to App: it runs on your Android phone and builds in the cloud.

What files do I get?

An APK, which installs directly on Android phones, and an AAB (Android App Bundle), which is what Google Play requires for new apps.

Will my app update automatically when I change my website?

Content does — the app loads your live site. The app itself (name, icon, start URL, tabs, permissions) changes only when you build and publish a new version. Maintenance guide.

Will Google Play accept my converted app?

Usually, if you own the website and the app works well: mobile-friendly pages, native navigation, an offline screen and features like push or tabs. Thin copies of websites get rejected for minimum functionality. Publishing and ASO.

Can I convert someone else's website into an app?

Not for publishing. Google Play removes apps that wrap websites the developer doesn't own or have permission to use.

Can I make an iPhone app with a web to app converter?

Android converters can't produce iPhone apps. iOS needs an Xcode build, an Apple developer account and App Review. Android and iPhone options.

Can I turn a website into a Windows or Mac app?

Yes — as an installed PWA, or with wrappers like Electron or Tauri. Web to desktop app guide.

Does the app work offline?

It shows a branded offline screen when there's no connection, and pages your site caches with a service worker can open offline. For fully offline apps, pack HTML files inside the app instead. Offline mode.

Does login work in a converted app?

Email and password logins work and stay signed in between launches. Google sign-in is blocked inside WebViews, so offer email login or use a Custom Tab sign-in flow.

Do payments work?

Card and PayPal checkouts work for physical goods and real-world services. Selling digital content inside a Play app generally requires Google Play Billing.

Can I add push notifications?

Yes, with a converter that includes a native push SDK such as OneSignal. Browser web push doesn't work inside app WebViews. Push campaigns.

Can I show ads in my converted app?

Yes, with native AdMob banners or interstitials if the converter supports them. Follow AdMob's placement rules. Ads guide.

What is a signing key and why does it matter?

Every Android app is signed with a private key; updates must use the same key. Download and back up the key your converter creates — losing it can mean you can't update the app.

Can I switch to a different web to app converter later?

Yes, if you keep the same package name and can sign with the same key (or upload key on Play). That's why key ownership matters when you choose a converter. Free converter catches.

Is a web to app converter better than a PWA?

They solve different problems: a converted app gets a Play Store listing and native features; a PWA is installed from the browser and works on iPhone. Many sites do both. Hybrid vs native vs WebView.
